Sea as an Ally

~Alex Wu

He led them in safety, so that they were not afraid, but the sea overwhelmed their enemies. Psalm 78:53

He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. Micah 7:19

Sea is never a good thing for God’s people in the Bible. When Israelites were leaving Egypt, the Red Sea blocked their way. When Jesus and his disciples were crossing the Sea of Galilee toward Gerasenes to save a man possessed by a multitude of evil spirits, a windstorm came down and almost sank the boat. At the end time, the Antichrist would rise out of the sea to deceive the world (Revelation 13:1). Therefore, God would make the sea disappear when a new heaven and a new earth come on the Day of Judgment (Revelation 21:1). Any opposing force or obstacle would stand no chance against our God. Praise the Lord!

Even before His final victory, God is performing another wonder for us: the sea is becoming our ally to destroy the enemy. Today we have many “seas” around us: diseases or challenges that make us physically and spiritually weak, situations or people that deprive us of key resources, etc. But our God is capable of turning the tables for us. Just as the Red Sea swallowed Pharaoh’s army, God is making the sea destroy our enemy and even our sins. This is the sign of revival: people or circumstances that are normally against us now work for us. Let this day come soon. Hallelujah!

Father, thank you for your encouraging word. In the past, you did wonderful work for your people to turn situations around. You will do it again for us in the near future. We thank you in advance. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
