What you are facing today is not the finished product. James reminds us that the testing of our faith produces steadfastness, and steadfastness is allowed to do its work until we become “perfect and complete, lacking in nothing” (James 1:3–4). The trial may be difficult, but God is developing something in you through it. And while you are in the process, ask Him for wisdom. You may not know whether to speak or remain silent, move or wait, but God promises to give wisdom generously to those who ask (James 1:5). So don’t measure this season only by how difficult it feels. Look beyond the trial to what God is producing through it, and trust Him for the wisdom to walk through it. He is still working on you.
When we cannot understand God’s ways, we can still trust His heart. The same Father who lovingly heard His Son also hears every prayer and every cry of our hearts. His plans are always good, even when the path includes suffering.

When we were called into Christ, we could be good or bad by human standards. But then the standard has changed. Salvation brought in a robe of righteousness from Christ. Without this garment, no goodness in us qualifies us for the Kingdom of Heaven. Praise the Lord that He put this garment on each of us even though we do not often feel its presence.
