It is a slow process

~Midori Uematsu

I once heard someone say, “We are a microwave generation, serving a slow cooker God”, because as humans, we desire for things to happen instantly.  For example, people ask if I have fully recovered from my illness but many things in life evolve slowly.  Yes, in the Bible, we see people healed instantly, but we should not forget the long period of waiting they endured.  For example, the woman with the issue of blood suffered 12 years and the lame man sat 38 hopeless years by the pool of Bethesda.

Even when I cannot see progress outwardly, I stand confident that God is working behind the scenes.  In winter, everything looks dead, but God is still at work and soon spring burts forward in all of her beauty and life!  Let’s be encouraged and trust God even more, when we do not see visible signs.  He is still working!  Even our Lord Jesus was not sent, until the fullness of time came and as farmers wait for their harvest, we too wait patiently and expectantly.  Who knows… today, might be the day when we see God’s hand move!

Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.  James 5: 7, 8
