Vision & Mission
Zion Apostolic Ministries International Edmonton, an independent apostolic church, is a fellowship of multicultural believers which networks by giving spiritual oversight for a growing international movement called ‘The Apostolic Ministries International’. This movement has spread across the nations with hundreds of churches planted yearly.
The purpose of these churches is to plant vibrant, spiritually growing churches under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. As a dynamic church proclaiming the word of God, we purpose to make disciples of Christ by:
- Providing opportunities for dynamic worship and prayer in an uplifting environment.
- Furnishing a platform for in depth studies of the teachings of the Holy Bible.
- Enabling and encouraging believers to share the good news in personal witnessing, missionary and evangelistic outreach.
- Providing spiritual, charitable and financial assistance to growing churches and missions.
Our Beliefs
A. The Bible
We believe that the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired of God. The Bible is infallible, eternal, and immutable. We believe that a true Christian living is only possible through the obedience to the word of God. 2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:21; Hebrews 4:12
B. The One True God
We believe in the one living and triune God, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, where each of the persons within the Godhead is deity. We believe that each of the persons of God is of the same essence and is not inferior or superior to the others in essence. God is infinitely Holy, all powerful, all knowing, all present and eternally self existent One. Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10-11; Luke 3:22; 1 Corinthians 8:6, 15:28; Genesis 1:1
The Son: The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ1, His virgin birth2, His sinless life3, His miracles4, His substitutionary work on the cross5, His bodily resurrection from the dead6, His exaltation to the right hand of God7 and His return in glory and power to establish His kingdom in righteousness and peace8.
1. Colossians 1:15-19; Philippians 2:5-8; I Timothy 2:5-6; John 1:1-3, 14-18
2. Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:31
3. Hebrews 7:26; 1 Peter 2:22
4. Acts 10:38
5. Luke 23:33-47; 2 Corinthians 5:21
6. Acts 1:9; Hebrews 1:3; Ephesians 1:20
7. Hebrews 9:15; 4:15
8. Matthew 25:31
The Holy Spirit and His Baptism: We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead, the Trinity. He is co-equal, co-eternal and co-existent with the Father and with the Son.
He was active in creation. He inspired the Bible writers. He works in regeneration, sanctification and in every aspect of the growth of a new believer. He is the source of all gifts to the church, empowering believers to do the work of God effectively on earth. The evidence of a Spirit filled life is the fruit of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22. He bestows upon the believer spiritual gifts which have not ceased but are still in operation today. Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; Genesis 1:2; 2 Peter 1:21; John 3:5-6; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:7-11
We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit, with the most common evidence of speaking in tongues and are for all believers. This experience is unique and subsequent to the experience of regeneration. Acts 1:8, 2:4; 1 Corinthians 12:4-10; Acts 10:44-46; Matthew 3:11; Acts 19:2-6
C. Salvation
It is a free gift of God and is only made possible by the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Salvation is received through repentance unto God, confession by mouth and faith in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. The inward evidence of salvation is the witness of the spirit. The outward evidence to all man is the fruit of salvation, which is manifested in righteousness and true holiness. Ephesians 2:8; Titus 2:11-12; Acts 4:12; Romans 10:13, 8:16
D. Separation
Every born again person should understand that he is the ‘light of the world and salt of the earth’. The greatest desire of a true believer is to reveal the character of Jesus Christ to the outside world. The Bible calls us to a life of separation from the sinful pleasures of the world and any form of company that displeases God. Ephesians 4:22-24; Galatians 5:16-25; Titus 2:12
E. Church
A church is a called out body of born again and baptized believers irrespective of race, colour or denomination. Every believer of a local church is an integral part of the universal church, the general assembly of the first- born that are written in heaven. The two-fold purpose of the church is evangelizing to the lost and nurturing of believers to build a body of saints being perfected in the image of His son. Ephesians 1:22-23; Hebrews 12:23; 1 Timothy 3:15; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Acts 1:8; Colossians 1:18
The Ordinances of Church: Water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the two ordinances of the New Testament Church.
Water Baptism: The ordinance of Baptism by immersion is a commandment in the scriptures. We believe that baptism is symbolic of the fact that we are buried with Him in death and have risen with Him to walk in the newness of life. All who repent must be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and The Holy Ghost. Matthew 28:19; Acts 10:47; Romans 6:4
Holy Communion: The Lord’s Supper, consisting of the elements – the bread and the wine is the commemoration of the death of Jesus Christ until He comes. This should be a moment of self examination and building of unity between believers. 1 Corinthians 11:23-24; Matthew 26:26-27; 1 Corinthians 10:16-17
F. Baptism in the Holy Ghost
We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit , with the most common evidence of speaking in tongues and are for all believers. This experience is unique and subsequent to the experience of regeneration. Acts 1:8; Acts 2:4; 1 Corinthians 12:4-10; Acts 10:44-46; Matthew 3:11; Acts 19:2-6
G. Divine Healing
Divine healing is an integral part of the gospel and is provided for in the atonement. Divine healing is the right of every child of God. Isaiah 53:4-5; 1 Peter 2:24; James 5:14-16
H. Tithing
God instituted it under the law in the Old Testament. It signifies the importance of financial faithfulness on the part of a believer. The New Testament encourages believers to give liberally and cheerfully. Christians honour God when they willingly and regularly give their tithes to Him. Malachi 3:10; 1 Corinthians 16:1,2
I. The Spirit World
Angels: Angels are created by God. They are holy beings created before the creation of the earth. They are normally invisible but have appeared to people in human form. They serve God and worship Him around his throne. They are ministering spirits sent by God to serve those who will inherit salvation. Hebrews 1:6-7; Matthew 18:10; Revelation 5:11
Fallen Angels: Satan is a created angel who fell from the presence of God. He and the angels with him that rebelled against God are called fallen angels. He is also called the prince of this world, who is the originator of sin, and who introduced sin into the world. His work is to steal, destroy, and to kill. Jesus Christ came into this world to undo his works and set people free from his power. He shall be eternally punished in the lake of fire. Matthew 4:1-11; Isaiah 14:12-17; Genesis 3:15; Ephesians 2:2; Revelation 20:10
J. The Future Things
We believe in the blessed hope, the personal imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ to gather all His redeemed ones unto himself. His coming will follow this with His saints to establish His millennial reign on this earth. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52; Revelation 20:1-6; Zechariah 14:4-11
K. The Final Judgement
There will be a final judgment in which the wicked will be raised and judged according to their deeds. Every person whose name is not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life will be cast into the eternal lake of fire with the devil and his angels. This is called the second death. The saints of the lord will enjoy everlasting joy with the Lord. Matthew 25:46; Revelation 21:8; 20:11-15; 1 Corinthians 15:51-58
