For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favor unto them. Psalm 44:3 (KJV)
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18 (KJV)
This is the season when I need God to fight spiritual battles for me every day. In the last season, I experienced His powerful hand and His mighty arm. When God fights for us with His right hand and His arm, no enemy can stand against us. Hallelujah! But for long-term victory, I need more from my Lord: the light of His face.
For Israelites, asking the LORD to make His face shine upon them was an important part of the priestly blessing to receive favor and peace (Numbers 6:22-26). For us, this will trigger a transformation. After seeking and beholding His light and glory, our faces will become like His. When we face the enemy, it is like the Spirit of the Lord that is against the enemy. This is a process of becoming His true representatives on earth and a process of moving from glory to glory. Let us all embrace this favor from Him and receive long-lasting peace!
Heavenly Father, thank you for your promise to shine upon us the light of your face. Give us the strength and perseverance to immerse ourself in you and look upon your face day and night so that you will continually transform us through your light and glory into an image like you. We are asking for this special favor in the turbulent time to enjoy long-lasting peace in you. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
