God is good not because He did something good but because He is inherently good. He is essentially and eternally good. The greatest attack of the devil is on the goodness of God. Eve’s mistake was that she found goodness in the fruit rather than in the Creator of the fruit. She found goodness outside of God and relationship with Him. There is no good outside of God. It is not the fruit that is good but He is good. The devil wants us to find goodness apart from God. Without God, morality does not exist. Cultural morality is based on what people think but moral goodness is not based on societal ethics but on believing God. God’s goodness must be something we celebrate with obedience to His word. God pours out His goodness inside you so you can give it out. Your blessing will bless others. There will be times in your life where you know God’s word promises goodness but your situation is the opposite. “Where is my blessing?” What do you do then? Trusting Him, honouring His word and waiting for Him is good. If you believe God’s goodness and trust His word, you will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Goodness is always connected to life. It’s not about quick results because God’s goodness is often a hidden treasure. In the right time, God will open it. This is the year of God’s goodness seen and His goodness announced.
