Arise, O Lord, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded – Psalm 7:6
As I reflected on this chapter, this phrase deeply encouraged me: “awake for me.” Imagine—the Creator of this universe is being called to rise up just for me. David, in his time of distress and persecution, likely while running from Saul, pleads with God. While he was falsely accused and unfairly pursued, he appealed not just for deliverance, but for his innocence to be proven. This psalm ends with David praising God for His righteousness and justice. But what struck me the most is David’s intimacy with God—so close that he can say, “Awake for me.” What a beautiful demonstration of trust and relationship.
There are seasons in our lives when everything seems stagnant, when prayers feel unanswered, when opportunities seem out of reach, and when people around us question and pressure us. In such times, have you ever whispered to God, “Lord, please awake for me,” because you know that even if the world is silent, your God will arise on your behalf?
When criticism surrounds you, when your worth is questioned, your quiet response can be:
“My God will arise for me.”
“My God will speak for me.”
“My God will respond on my behalf.”
Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.’ – Genesis 41:39–40
What an incredible testimony this is. Joseph, a prisoner just moments earlier, was then appointed to a role that never even existed before. God didn’t just promote Joseph; He created a new position for him. A role that was not part of Egypt’s tradition became reality because God acted on his behalf.
When God rises for you, He can create roles that never existed. He can alter systems and rewrite rules. The Creator of the universe is not bound by human limitations. He moves on behalf of those who trust Him. No reference, no connection, no influence can match the power of when God Himself speaks on your behalf.
Lord, give us the grace to recognize that You, the Creator of heaven and earth, are still working on our behalf. Teach us to trust You deeply, to pray without ceasing, and to wait with expectancy. May we never grow weary in our faith. You are able to create positions, open doors, and silence every tongue that rises against us. In Jesus’ Precious Name, Amen.
